Well, May is over and we’re onto June! I had a lot of products that I fell in love with in May, so I decided to put together my May Favourites for you. There’s a bit of everything in here, from clothes to makeup, and I think I’m going to keep doing these every month (provided I have fallen in love with enough new things to tell you about!)
For some context, I was travelling for almost the entirety of May. I went to Europe for a little over three weeks, covering 5 countries and loving absolutely every second of it. I’m working on some travel posts already so be sure to keep an eye out! I did do a bunch of posts on my travel essentials before I left as well, with my travel makeup bag, travel palettes, and travel skincare, so be sure to check those out.
If you love iced tea – this will change your life. I honestly underestimated this product and how much I would adore it. I bought this particular one from David’s Tea. There are two parts of the bottle: you take the first part out, put your tea in the main bottle, and let it steep in hot water (I use the middle cup setting on my Keurig!) You fill the part you took out with ice, and then plunge it down into the bottle when the tea is done steeping, instantly icing your tea. It’s foolproof, easy, and fast. My sister, mom and I all use them which means the three of us can each be drinking a different tea.
This has made it way easier for me to stay away from store bought iced teas, which are absolutely filled with sugar. I’m going to do a roundup of my favourite iced teas soon, so make sure to head on over to my Instagram and let me know what your favourites are so I can try them!
This has been a long-time favourite of mine for a great “no makeup” makeup look. I stopped using it for a year or two, and then I decided last minute to bring it with me to Europe last month, and I fell in love with it again. It has awesome coverage for a BB cream (I don’t know who uses it as a primer or why they call it that, it’s definitely a BB cream as far as I’m concerned) and it has a decent lasting power if you set it like I do. I apply this with my beauty blender and it just looks so nice on the skin.
I wore this almost my entire trip in Europe, so it has to be in my May favourites. I bought it last minute when I was at the mall with my best friend, because I’m notoriously bad for not buying enough shirts. Most of the time, I end up with 10 skirts and pairs of shorts with two shirts most of the time.
This bodysuit actually works for my large chest, and it isn’t a low-cut one like a lot of bodysuits I see. The back comes up high enough to cover my bra and yet still has an open-back look to it. I need more of these! I might go buy it in another colour and get a back up of the black one, just because it’s so hard to find bodysuits that work with bigger chests. Come on, clothing companies! Give me something to work with here.
This shadow makes a gorgeous highlight. If applied subtly, it gives such a pretty sheen to the skin without looking over the top. For all my pale girls out there, here’s one to add to your list (If you need more, I did a whole post on highlights for fair skin)
If you’re not a highlighting kind of girl, this is obviously an eyeshadow first and foremost, and it’s a really nice one. It brightens up the lid, and I like using it with a light brown in the crease, and a winged liner for that 50s inspired look.
Finding comfortable shoes that aren’t ugly is really hard. I wanted a pair of running shoes that would be really comfortable for all the walking I’d be doing in Europe, but that wouldn’t stick out like a sore thumb if I wore them with a dress or a romper. I found the Geox Nebulas and fell in love with them. They’re a tad on the pricey side, but they’re really non-offensive and come in a great amount of neutral colours.
I barely had to break them in, and they never gave me blisters or bothered my feet at all in my three weeks of heavy walking. I bought mine from SoftMoc, but you can grab them on Amazon too!
As a rule, I’m not a lipgloss person. But the Buxom formula is an exception to that rule. They feel cooling and tingle on your lips, so if you don’t like that, I’d tap out right now. For me, I really like that feeling! The colours are gorgeous, and I have several in my collection.
Lately, White Russian has been my go-to gloss. It looks great over any nude lipstick I’ve tried it over, and so pretty on its own as well. It goes with neutral eye looks as well as dramatic ones like this one:
Still one of my favourite looks. I absolutely love anything mermaid inspired, and this look gives me serious Ariel vibes. Hoping to start doing more fun makeup looks when I get home in a few weeks. 💕 Details: @urbandecaycosmetics Naked 2 & Peace Eyeshadow @colourpopcosmetics Super Shock Shadow in Bae @nyxcosmetics_canada 07 Glitter @stilacosmetics Magnificent Metals Shadow in Kitten @socialeyeslash Flutter lashes @itcosmetics Brow Pencil @sigmabeauty brushes @buxomcosmetics White Russian
